ProxiSmart founder and ex ginger Chris Reed has been shortlisted for the NatWest GB High Street Entrepreneur of the Year Award in association with Entrepreneurial Spark on the back of our Company's flagship solution ParkingPerx.

The judges said “Northumbrian entrepreneur, Chris Reed, is the owner of ParkingPerx. This fantastic parking solution for the 21st century incentivises high street trade while reducing all pain-points associated with traditional car-parking processes; parking fees themselves stand to become a thing of the past!”

Chris gets to dress up and,er, do his hair for a celebration of the Awards in Manchester in October and attends the gala final in London in November when fingers crossed he might win the national award.

"To be honest, to be shortlisted is an incredible honour as the quality of the competition for this fantastic award is very high", said Chris on hearing the news. "When I started this Company, one of my main objectives was to try to to reinvigorate the UK's High Streets which have seen a rapid decline over many years. This award reflects that my peers in the industry feel we have created something that could help to achieve that ambition and is therefore incredibly satisfying but also very humbling"

BusinessCloud have published a list of the top 101 companies in the country using tech to disrupt traditional industries and ProxiSmart have been named on the back of our flagship ParkingPerx solution which changes how Consumers park and who pays for it.

Tech North’s Northern Stars has been around for a while, and while my colleagues have always raved about it, I’ve failed to make it down every year. But this year there were no excuses. Even the miserable weather couldn’t put us off as Sapphire and I grabbed our umbrellas and headed from our Northern Quarter office, in Manchester, down to Old Granada Studios.

From an app that boosts declining high streets, to a platform where anyone can create an online radio station, these startups have been tipped for big things.

On 17th November 2016, our Northern Stars final will take place in Manchester. Among the 20 companies pitching will be six from the recent regional heats. As the final approaches, we’re highlighting the winners of those events.
